Thanks to LJ giving me something free (see #8 at: news.livejournal.com/119507.html), I'm feeling all festive and charitable myself.
:)

If you want to participate in my free project, give me your mailing address and I'll mail you a free sample of my art (ie, a small print of my choice). You can either post your address here in the comments (if you dont care if the world sees it) or send me a private message through LJ or you can email it to me at bostonsart@yahoo.com

chat with you soon!

Creative Update

Hard for me to believe so much time has passed since the last time I have posted...
In my defense, life can sometimes get in the way of my creative expressions.
Stupid stuff really, like, moving and having everything turned upside down (still unpacking my art room and supplies)...
Didn't have my scanner hooked up for 2 months and lost the connector cord to my digital camera (still can't find it).
My art life was on hold for a few months... but I want to come back now and share.

These are a few things I managed to work on/scan...

I created this as a gift for a baby boy's shower and then decided at the last minute not to give:

"boat lullaby" 9x12  pencil and oil pastels

This was begun in an effort to keep my mind occupied... but is now framed and sitting in my art room.
It inspires me to do more color:

"abstract valley of the sun" 9x12 oil pastels

This is stuff I'm currently working on...

9x12 sharpie ink and colored pencils:

9x12 sharpie ink and colored pencils:

9x12 sketch soon to be inked and colored:

9x12 pencil and chalk pastels:

so far just a pencil sketch on 18x24 canvas, soon to be painted with acrylics:

Good or bad, feedback is always welcome.

A birthday gift for my friend Nancy, who loves to dance and is a major Prince fan (it is a Prince symbol on her buttcheek)...

Happy Birthday and Happy Housewarming (congrats on the condo), Nancy!!!!!

Maybe she will send in a picture of the piece in its new home so it can be posted here...

Rolling with the creative punches, I finally dug out that 4 foot bamboo mat I've been wanting to paint on...

Introducing my back room protector:

Me thinks I should do more bamboo mat paintings... any suggestions?

:)

Aries Breaking Down Creative Walls

Okay, its been awhile since I've posted...
creative blocks come in all shapes/forms.

The first few months of my creative block were due to a death in the family...

Then there was the chaos/excitement/never-ending to-do lists of the holidays...

Then the beginning of the year there were drastic changes with my job (I work in a law firm by day, and was laid off) and at home (family members moving in/out).

I promised a friend last October that I was going to complete a commission for her.
She asked for astrological drawings for each of her family members for Christmas.

I had good intentions and started them, but then the creative wall started crumbling down around me and I put them aside for months.

Fast forward to today.
May 2009.
Her twin brothers are graduating and she is spontaneously flying over several states to spend two days with them... soon one of them is going into the military.  It would mean so very much to her if she could take the drawings with her.

With little notice (2 days before her flight) I managed to finish the two drawings for her twin brothers and the one for her father.  Thank you Christina, for giving me the nudge of strong masculine Aries.  :)

Take a peeksie and feedback is always welcome.

This was how I framed them in a rush (and later learned she switched the frames with a better look but I dont have a picture to show for it)....

Bear with me...

My digital camera has given up on me.

I guess after a few years of good use, it is to be expected.
Such is the way of technology nowadays.

Recently, I borrowed my brother's digital camera...
and now...
have not been able to find it for weeks (neither can he).
:(

Therefore, I must resort to using my cell phone camera (lame).

All of my recent photos of artworks have been taken this way, very harmful to my creativity and quality of my postings.

Please bear with me.

I will splurge on a new camera soon and bare more than ever.
:)

In the meantime, here are cell pics of the latest piece I' m working on...

acrylic on wood block (my latest muse):

As always, I welcome comments.

xoxo.
